How to end a task (end-screens)

To end a task an end-screen must be defined. As an end tricker, you can choose between an endpoint or timer. It can also be a combination.

Difference between endpoint and timer

  • Endpoint: When defining an end-screen and use an endpoint, a green hotspot is automatically added to your screen. Clicking the hotspot will end the task and the test proceeds. You can insert as many endpoints as you want
  • Timer: When defining an end-screen and use a timer, the test proceeds after the set amount of time after the participant has reached the end-screen

How to define an end-screen and insert endpoint and timer

  1. Choose the screen you want to set as your end-screen in your prototype
  2. Click ‘Add ending’ and choose between endpoint and timer

Insert endpoint
Click ‘Add ending’ and choose endpoint. A green hotspot is automatically added to your screen and you can move it to where you want your participant to click.

Add endpointInsert timer
Click ‘Add ending’ and choose timer. Now you can set the amount of milliseconds that should go from the participant has reached the page to the test proceeds.

Different test complexity
You can build linear flows with only one task and one end-screen (like example A). But you can also build more complex flows with one task and multiple end-screens (like example B) or with multiple tasks and mulitple end-screens (like example C).

Example A – one endpoint

  1. Task 1
  2. Prototype
  3. One end-screen (endpoint, timer or both)
  4. Stop test

Example B – multiple end-screens

  1. Task 1
  2. Prototype
  3. Multiple end-screen (endpoints, timer or both)
  4. Stop test

Example C – multiple tasks and multiple end-screens

  1. Task 1
  2. Prototype
  3. Multiple end-screens (endpoint, timer or both)
  4. Task 2
  5. Continue prototype
  6. Stop test
